Beginner’s Class: Rope 101

Days & Times: Tuesdays, June 23, 30, July 7, 14 7:30 PM – 9:30 PM

Cost: $150 / person for the series ($37.50 per class)

Description:

This 4-class series will start you on your journey with the tools to explore rope confidently and safely. Learn the basic building blocks of ties as self-ties, no partner required (though generally encouraged). Rope, safety scissors are required and are sold during class.

Prerequisites:

No previous experience required.

Class Topics:

  • Safe Single and Double Column Ties
  • Futomomo (leg tie) of various types and how to choose
  • Shin Lacing
  • Agura (crosslegged) Harness
  • Consent and Negotiation
  • Safety and Communication

Floor Work: Rope 102 with Mr.R and Arby

Days & Times: Wednesdays 7:30 PM – 9:30 PM,

Joy Street Studios: May 27, June 3, 10, 17

Cost: $150 / person ($300 per pair)

Description:

Rope 102 is the next step for those who have taken Rope 101. This 4-class series will expand your tools to explore rope confidently and safely. Learn the basic building blocks of harnesses, partner required. Each class will pair a soft skill with a technical skill. Rope and safety scissors are required and are sold during class.

If you attend without a partner, you will be assigned a random partner each class and each person will be expected to switch (both tie and get tied).

  • Body Manipulation
  • Body Warm-Ups for Tops and Bottoms
  • Scene Structure
  • Upper Body Nerve Pathways, Safety, and Rope Placement
  • Classic Positions and Terminology
  • Rope Handling Skills
  • Improvisation with Basics
  • Creating Non-Classic Positions

Prerequisites:

Top-Only or Switch: Rope 101 OR previous rope experience including everything from Rope 101

Bottom-Only: Consent and Negotiation Skills

Join us for an open-format skill sharing session, where all experience levels are welcome! Whether you want to tie, be tied, watch, share techniques, or simply socialize with the community, this is a space for exploration and learning. There’s no formal instruction—just an opportunity to exchange knowledge, practice, and connect in a relaxed, respectful environment. Bring your rope, a yoga mat, curiosity, and enthusiasm! (and a snack if you want)

For those who are brand new to BnB, we will run a short Crash Course for the first hour, 7:45 PM – 8:45 PM.


CoLaboratory

Days & Times: Thursday, July 9, 7:30 PM – 10 PM

Continuing on the second Thursday of each month

Cost: $40 / pair / class (partner required)

Join us for an evening of exploration and discussion. CoLaboratory is a semi-structured forum built on discussion, collaboration, and exploration of a theme.

July’s forum will be lead by Mr. R, centered on the theme “Floating, Falling, Flying. Mr. R’s background in music composition and creative critique will shape the discussion and invite involvement from everyone.

Prerequisites: Experience tying / being tied in suspension, improvising with advanced skills, a desire to examine your own practice and establish your own goals. (advanced)
